I design research reports, annual reports, financial statements, books, training manuals, policy documents and other substantial publications.

Why produce your own marketing materials and run the risk of looking amateurish?

Yes. I can use an established template or brand guidelines, improve an existing document or create a new visual system specifically for the publication.

For projects over £500 I will discuss with you an appropriate deposit and/or payment schedule.

Yes. I can turn complex information and data into clear tables, diagrams, charts and infographics that support the document’s key messages.

Microsoft Word is normally the most practical format for substantial written content. Tables, charts, image files, references and captions should be supplied separately and clearly labelled where necessary.

Ideally, the content should be complete and approved before detailed page layout starts. Significant changes after design has begun can affect pagination, layouts, timescales and costs.

From this discussion I will establish what I call a 'creative brief'. From there I will begin work on the project by researching ideas and producing mock-ups. The designs are then forwarded onto the client for feedback, and they are asked to approve certain colours and fonts, and a general 'look and feel' before work continues.

If any alterations are required, these are made and the amended visual is resubmitted to the client. This process continues until I receive client approval.

If the client is having printed copies, I will submit a final PDF proof for the customer’s approval before sending to press. Once a job is in production, the job cannot be cancelled.

A PDF proof is supplied for review, and amendments are made from clearly marked, consolidated feedback. For longer documents, it is helpful for one person to collect and approve all comments before sending them to me.

Yes. I can supply print-ready artwork for professional production and a separate optimised PDF for websites, email distribution or digital download.

Yes. I can advise on size, paper, binding and finishes, obtain suitable printing options and supply correctly prepared artwork to the chosen printer.
